
Mar. 10, 2010 (McClatchy-Tribune Regional News delivered by Newstex) -- MT. VERNON -- Bruce Flanigan has been named the executive director for the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Foundation.
Flanigan will serve as the director for the campuses in Centralia and Mt. Vernon, according to information from St. Mary's Good Samaritan.
"Both St. Mary's Hospital and Good Samaritan Regional Health Center are cornerstones in their communities," Flanigan stated. "I feel privileged to be a part of a health care entity that has provided more than just health care to its communities."
Flanigan has been a resident of Southern Illinois for more than 34 years, and has more than 23 years of experience in the banking industry. He has been involved in many community organizations over the years including the United Way of Jefferson County, the Jefferson County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club.
This is a time of major projects at both campuses of the hospital, including the new Good Samaritan Regional Health Center which is planned on Veterans Memorial Drive in Mt. Vernon, and the newly remodeled intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital.
"The foundation will play an important part in assisting both hospitals with their capital projects and equipment purchases," Flanigan stated. "This is an exciting time for St. Mary's Good Samaritan and I am proud to join such an outstanding health care organization and thankful for the opportunity to be involved in helping to improve the hospitals in both communities."
